     Turning a boy into a man is a man's Job. Since beginning of time,its been up to a father to make his son responsible,kind, courageous and honorable.
A young boy doesn't come with instructions, he just comes with boundless love and an adventurous spirit. But the journey to manhood begins very early....the first time he
looks at his dad and thinks, " I want to be like him. Am sure that some wife's will not want their son to say that they want to be like their husbands, but that's by the way.

1. Be around: A man that doesn't, spend time with his family is not a good man.

2. Be his father, not his friend: If you don,t understand the difference, imagine his confusion when you must discipline him.

3. Be a good husband : Show his mum respect at all times.

4. Be home for dinner.

5. Be his hero.

Raising A Healthy Child


There is this saying that …if a parent backs up a child in a criminal act, that child will have no fears breaking into a victims house. I have also heard that if you bring a child up in a particular way, that he or she will never depart from it. Then I asked my self, who will show the child that way that he or she will never depart from? Who is this child to be shown the way?

Raising a healthy child is the easiest way to build a healthy society. If you look at the nature of man, you can easily tell that no body will intentionally want to raise his or her child to become a treat to the society.... but we see it happening on daily basis. After all, the so called Boko Haram members are all children from different homes and parents, and they were all celebrated on their birth date. I believe that some of their parents must have prayed for a boy child to carry on the family name before conceiving and giving birth to them. Or do u think they were all born to become terrorist?

If this is the case, it means that something is wrong somewhere. Is it that our children are no more qualified to become our future leaders or that we chose those to teach the right way amongst our children or are we expecting foreigners to come and lead us in the near future. These are simple questions coming out from Kitchen thingz that need an urgent and open answer because there is no hiding place for us. These answers are there on our lips but the fear of living a healthy lifestyle is the fear of living a true life.

In this article, after all said and done, whether you like it or not, I am here to tell you today that we all are guilty of child abuse. I don’t need a Judge to prove me right here because our society does not and cannot lie. The future of our society has been sold out to ignorance and vices that we are meant to be in control of. Parents no longer have time for their kids any more. Most people parade their children like trophies, dressing them up in all sorts of things in the name of keeping them up to date. Some parents only gave birth to prove that they are fertile, after which they abandon the child for another human being who has been unfortunately forced by poverty to come and see caring for your child as a means of survival. My brother "odikwa risky o!"

Some give birth to gain tittles, while some do for other reasons that do not have anything to do with the future of our society and the child. If you provide a child with all he or she needs without training that child on how to live a healthy lifestyle, that child will live waiting for you to finish the good work you started. That child you are sharing to evil and unhealthy vices is not your personal property ooo! That’s a human being sent by God on a mission but had to come through you to get guidance on how to live a healthy lifestyle before proceeding on his or her mission on earth. They are not meant for your to cover your mess. Instead, they need the truth of your mess to better their life.

The graveyard is so rich today, not because of the rotten bodies and dry bones lying there but because of the unfulfilled destinies lying dead. That’s why you hear about some people going to sleep there to tap powers that will finally kill them. "Ndi Ara".

I was involved in an argument the other day with some group of traders at one of these “nkwobi” joints along Kilo area. The argument was about the so called rich men and their children. They where all talking about how rich people use their children for rituals and leave them under other people’s care, providing them with all their needs, until they die, only for the children to start suffering the sins of their rich parents and end up selling up all the property accumulated by their fathers. In some cases they turn to one addiction or the other, and that will be the end of the rich man’s story. I gave them my left ear while enjoying my “nkwobi” with a bottle of Stout. I had to join the argument because I observed that some children were paying attention.

My point is this. You don’t need to go that far to get a child to become a complete nuisance and a threat to the society. Just subject them to the ritual called "CHILD FAST FORWARDING: In this case the child is pushed to skip his or her childhood stages and become unnecessarily matured. I have heard a 75 years old woman say to herself in a very regretful manner that she will do better if given another chance to raise her children.  I must tell you that we no longer have children not to talk of leaders of tomorrow. "Person wey enter university from SS2 will never know how it feels to be an SS3 student.”

A healthy child must be able to do certain things at a certain age, no matter how rich that child's parents are.

Green Beans On Chicken Breast

Who will not want to be paired with a breast?.. even if it's for another man's meat. If you know green beans very well,you will not be surprise at the way it is leaning on this chicken breast. Anyways,j it was needed in this recipe . Apart from Chef valicci's sauce that marinated the chicken breast, the green beens did not come with any other vegetable....not even it's best friend cabbage . Spring onions donated it's white tender root end for us before setting out to watch master chef on tv.

The sauce was made up of all fresh and romantic spices that gave the breast some sense of belonging. Sesame oil was part of the sauce team. Fresh lemon juice also made the team as well as black pepper, ginger,rose merry and co...all blended together for a mission. U need to be part of this recipe to understand me better.

The Breast in question, was from a live Chicken...not just a chicken breast but a live chicken breast. Am very friendly with breast chicken food,infact I handle the breast part with due respect .
As for the green beens, I peeled off the double tread by the side before putting it to boil with salt for about 2 minutes, sieve and set aside to drain. Leaving it in a very tender mood.

No matter what you call it in your native language or whether your people forbids it, it remains a fat free,low calorie vegetable that is also a good source of cholesterol lowering fiber and other vitamins that contributes to a healthy eyes and bones. Even my turning stick knows this.d
Every arm of this recipe were all on their toes, making things easier for me in the kitchen. I allow the chicken to marinate for up to 45minutes...well sealed to allow the marinades get into the breast from all the  beast departments. Already shredded, thanks to my chopping board.

Stirfry ios one of the best healthy cooking method that requires healthy skill and a professional  personal relationship with food .My stirfry wok is so friendly but the way and manner with which it accommodates breast meat is beginning to show a healthy relationship amongst food and their cooking utensils.

As soon as my wok was oiled, heated and ready for stirfry, I set in the marinated chicken beast, stired until it turned brown and almost done, then set aside. Even though that the honorable green beens has gone through 2minutes of Boling season,it was not still fit to be served...so i had to place a fresh wok back on fire for the final "nkwa".When it got into the wok, all i saw was a helplessly green beans without a supporting breast to lean on.

In Kitchen thingz,i am the general overseer, I see different thingz from different angles and i have never failed to cut,marinate, stirfry or relate to any food in kitchen thingz.

After about another 3minutes of lonely beans stirfry,i allowed the chicken breast to move and join the lonely green beans with the chicken broth that I go from the breast juice. Then added it with the remaining sauce which i poured right in the middle of the wok. See green beans feeling like a big boy when I served it hot.

Note: For a healthy stirfry...u need a fire Extinguisher in your kitchen.

Egg Tomato Sauce

Looking for a quick and healthy meal to make up for the time you spent chatting with your loved ones? Try this simple Egg and Tomato sauce and share your experience with us. We all know the tomato and its beautiful nature. It is one of the most used vegetables in our everyday meals (... actually, na me chop this sauce with boiled rice first). It is one of the cheapest recipes I have ever made. 
My ingredients were so relaxed, fresh and willing to be part of the mix. I sliced the two tomatoes into four parts each, getting 8 quartered sections. The garlic did not feel much pain this time...because I squashed it with the base of my Palm. The two eggs involved were the first to ask me, "Itagokwaife?” ..Funny eggs abi? Between the eggs and the spring onions, there was a little misunderstanding, which was my fault. That was why I had to fry the eggs first and set them aside. Salt, red pepper, garlic, celery were up to the task, ready to go. 
If you have eaten or tasted raw tomatoes before, u would agree with me that they are very friendly when it comes to relating with our taste buds. All the ingredients went, one after the other, into my wok  as agreed, allowing the spring onions to step in as a witness at the end. Last of all, I added half a cup water to this simple and easy recipe (... did you hear that water does not really have any enemy?).  After adding a pinch of my kitchen sauce, I stirred for another five minutes and chopped tite. #itagokwaife?

Simple Ways To Get Your Body Moving.
You can start the process of being healthy and weight loss now by adding a little more activity to your life. If you're not ready for a structured program, start small. Every little bit counts and it all adds up to burning more calories.
  • Turn off the TV. Once a week, turn off the TV and do something a little more physical with your family. Play games, take a walk...almost anything will be more active than sitting on the couch.
  • Walk more. Look for small ways to walk more. When you get the mail, take a walk around the block, take the dog for an extra outing each day or walk on your treadmill for 5 minutes before getting ready for work.
  • Do some chores. working in the garden, raking leaves, sweeping the floor...these kinds of activities may not be 'vigorous' exercise, but they can keep you moving while getting your house in order.
  • Pace while you talk. When you're on the phone, pace around or even do some cleaning while gabbing. This is a great way to stay moving while doing something you enjoy.
  • Be aware. Make a list of all the physical activities you do on a typical day. If you find that the bulk of your time is spent sitting, make another list of all the ways you could move more--getting up each hour to stretch or walk, walk the stairs at work, etc.

Walking (Exercise).

    Walking is an excellent way to become active again. The key is to start slowly and persist. You can do it indoors on a treadmill or outdoors, whichever you prefer....depending on your environment. If you live in an area where okada plenty more than human being...please watch your side as you walk.

If you stick to it and make each walk a little more challenging than your last one, you will soon be feeling much better.
If you also eat well, the results possible from just walking may amaze you!
Although it is not the best exercise to lose weight from a physiological perspective, walking does work.


You will not only be walking to lose weight; you will quickly find that you feel better, you look better, and you are healthier! You will become more trim and energetic. Soon others will begin noticing and start complimenting you—and even asking for advice! (Before changing your exercise habits, first obtain the blessing of your personal physician.)
Let’s assume that you have been inactive. If you do a lot of walking, you may lose weight. However, the chief value of this plan is simply to get you more active.

Eating Healthy.

    Eating healthy starts with learning how to build a personal relationship with food. It is not by affording a plate of salad in the best restaurants. If you want to eat healthy, you must first and foremost understand food from the natural point of view. And for you to understand food, u must come to food with a clean heart. Learn to treat food like living thingz,accommodate them in your environment, learn to share with them.   Buy your food in a food flask not in a poli bag. Pay for your food, don,t let your food feel that  you are cheating on the food seller. Be truthful about your hunger,don,t eat food by obtaining. Buy them fresh, don,t wait for the reminant...you are not a trash can.

If you do all this, your relationship with food will become so healthy that you don,t need a doctor to place you on a by force diet. And when you build a healthy relationship with food,you will not be needing any doctor to deprive you of you favorite food in the name of dieting. You will know what to eat and drink...your food will become a solid link between you mind and body.

There are two types of food relationship, healthy and unhealthy food relationship. The type of relationship you have with food...plays a big role in eating healthy.
If u are one of those that eat at first site without knowing the make up of the food..."na youknow oooo". If u are using food as a companion when u are lonely...."na your body go tell you". If you are not interested in balancing you food,find out why....you must be lacking some information. If you are a miracle seeker through fasting....go see your doctor oo..Ulcer no be man friend ooo. Pineaple Rice.

Recipes like this can only come from Chef valicci's  Kitchen Thingz.  A Kitchen without wall. The only kitchen that represents healthy lifestyle in its fullness. The fresh pineapple that took part in this simple recipe was actually meant for my personal consumption. As a personal chef, I know my kitchen and my kitchen knows me. The same thing goes with my client and my cooking utensils.

My mood was a bit shaky on the day i made this food....but i did not let it get to my cooking  skills ...it only affected my turning stick.
The caterer that ate this food did not leave a comment after eating but her countenance said a lot though.
Rice,pineapple,cabbage,cucumber,pepper,garlic, egg and spring onions were the particulars of this recipe.

Rice and garlic with half cup of fresh pineapple juice,  matched up with them selves in a bowl before entering the wok on fire. The fried scattered eggs were on standby....waiting for their turn to go in and show the stuffs they were made of.

In less than seven minutes, both the rice,pineapple, pepper,fried eggs,cucumber,spring onions, salt and other follow follow ingredients, plus including my God's given skills went into the wok as a team and came out victorious as a Pine Rice..

Basic Fried Rice

This is a basic recipe that you can add to as u like depending on the quantity of rice you want to serve...u are also free to add some vegetables if you get fresh one for your kitchen.  If you relate well with food, you will be so close that nothing will be hidden from you in your kitchen, all your fresh and available ingredients will be willing to join hands and come up with something rich and mouthwatering.

In this healthy recipe, It was so easy for me to put together the likes of shrimp and chicken fillets together with celery. The basic spice at work was the combination of garlic, ginger and spring onions. Cabbage had to come in from the bench because of its calm nature...knowing that it does not last in my wok.
The rice i used in this recipe has already been cooked like 6 hours  before this time. It's  actually our local rice. For those of you who believe that foreign rice is better ...please Learn how to cook our local rice and stop spoiling our rice.

Another important part of this recipe was that i consulted my client before adding all this ingredients that made this fried rice a basic one. She did well on her own part too. I always say it here and there that we need healthy communication to be able to fix healthy meal. If I did not relate with her, I will never know that she skipped her breakfast mistakenly due to road traffic. And all her hope was to come and finish all I have in the kitchen.

Shrimps and chicken fillets were the first to feel the heat of my wok cause I needed to stir fry them and set aside to relate with each other on how to work with our local rice for a healthy and fresh fried rice.

After the first stir fry that lasted for about 5 minutes, I brought in a fresh wok to fry the two eggs I used for the fried rice. U need to see the way this eggs just skata like sat war dey..but I prefer it scattered for fried rice. Trust my cutting board. All the veges needed were layed in state for proper cutting,plus including garlic and ginger.

It's almost twenty minutes and my client face don de change from hunger to hungry...no be person tell me to put a fresh wok on fire and allow it to heat up to a level ,i poured in the garlic and ginger ,then follow them up with rice on a high heat...shrimps and chicken follows immediately,before adding pepper and salt to taste . As soon a the vegetables came into the scene ...I stir-fried for another 2 minutes and serve hot.
